Hotels Near Baylor

in Waco Guides

Like I mentioned on the homepage, the point of this site is not to be another site where you can see the same old pictures of a hotel, or even read the reviews about the hotel. One of the main things that I care about when I travel is where in the city the hotel is located.

The map above shows the hotels that are close to Baylor. As you can see they are:

If you are going to be on Baylor campus, most of the time it is easier to walk places than to find parking. With that in mind, outside of the LaQuinta, which is literally almost on Baylor campus, its doubtful that you are going to want to walk from any of the hotels to campus events.

Locally owned restaurants near campus include Vitek’s, Food for Thought,  and Cupp’s Drive In–great greasy hamburgers. Another locally owned establishment for a morning or afternoon pick me up is Common Grounds, a coffeehouse.

Near campus but on the Circle are The Health Camp whose named is not related to the food they serve, El Chico’s, The Elite, and The Texas Roadhouse plus Rudy’s Bar-Be-Que. Across I-35 off 17th Street is a Waco/Baylor favorite of many years George’s.

Sing and Pigskin are in Waco Hall which is on campus, graduation is at the Ferrell Center, which is adjacent to campus, and if you are coming for a wedding at Miller Chapel or the seminary, those are on campus as well. The baseball, softball and tennis center are all adjacent to campus too. If you are staying at the La Quinta you could walk to all of those events (the Ferrell Center would be a bit of a hike). If you choose any of the other hotels, its going to be best to drive.

Hotel websites often tell you they are close proximity (within walking distance :) ) of certain attractions, and while these hotels are in walking distance of Baylor and downtown, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you will feel safe or happy about hoofing it at night through some rougher neighborhoods. I love Waco, but I am just going to be honest with you about that point.

That being said, with a car, this is a great area to stay in for any event at Baylor, there are many restaurants (sit down and fast food), gas stations & an HEB nearby.
